HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST TANNING LOTION.
We must first start by understanding there is no "Best" tanning lotion.
There is however a best tanning lotion for you. There are many lotions on the market today that work great at building that dream tan you have been looking for. Now all you have to do is find the right one for you. This can be done in different ways, such as friends, lotion reviews, or asking your tanning salon assistant, they should be able to determine just what to start you out with. Trial and error , You are not going to love every lotion you buy but don't worry and don't throw it away we have a tip how you can still use it. I would recommend trying the tanning salon's samples if they have them before investing in a full bottle. Now let's look at the main types of lotions that are available and some of there ingredients and what they do.
-Accelerators-
An accelerator lotion in a simple term is a lotion containing (amino acids) that help boost the bodies melanin production while in a tanning bed and a short time after. It helps speed up your bodies natural tanning ability so you don't have to be in the UV rays as long as you would the sun. One of the first ingredients on the bottle of lotion should be aloe vera , if you want a quality lotion. This will help moisturize your skin and aid in the damage from the UV rays. An accelerator will only help you tan as dark as your body can tan naturally. Another type of tanning lotion is bronzers.
-bronzers-
A bronzer is an accelerator formulated with DHA color additives that penetrates the skin to create a darker reaction, usually in 4 to 12 hours. The best bronzers color your skin with natural oils. Example- walnut oil. They must be applied evenly using extra care on elbows, knees and feet to avoid streaks - wash hands after applying lotion before getting in the tanning bed. We used the tanning bed cleaner and a towel so we didn't have to leave the room. Make sure the lotion is dry before getting in to the bed. If you do get streaks from bronzers the best way to remove them is to scrub with a mixture of sugar and fresh lemon juice. When a lotion has more than one bronzer in it it is labeled a double, triple, 10x, 100x and so on. The higher the number the more bronzers there are in the lotion.
-Tingles-
Tingle or hot lotions have ingredients such as benzyl nicotinate that promote the body's blood to rise to the top layers of the skin which also bring melanin with it. This helps bring your tanning proses to an extreme level. It will make your skin literally tingle. The higher the number or rating the more the tingle or hot feeling. It will give you a sun burnt or flushed look for about an hour or so after tanning but will turn into a tan after that. Tingle or hot lotions are generally not for beginners and definitely not for people with very light skin. If you want to try one of these lotions apply a small amount on your forearm to see how it will effect you.
